Endocrinologists think for a living. When we meet, I get your history, develop a theory and then direct science to confirm that theory.– Dr Eva

Thyroid + Metabolism

Your metabolism determines the efficiency in which your body burns the calories from the foods you eat, and in effect plays a significant role in weight management. Metabolism includes all of the chemical reactions that occur within your body’s cells, which not only keeps your organs working, but also helps to maintain an optimal, energized life. Bottom line – a stronger metabolism makes it easier for you to burn off body fat and also maintain (or build) lean, metabolism-boosting muscle.

If you’re having problems losing weight, or suddenly gaining weight, if you often have cold hands and feet, if your menstrual cycles are irregular, if you have between constipation and/or diarrhea, you may be suffering from poor thyroid function.

To do its job, the thyroid needs a chemical element called iodine that the body absorbs from the foods you eat and the water you drink. Nutritional support for the thyroid gland, whether or not thyroid hormone replacement is warranted, may be critical in helping to restore both balance and function. Chronic stress can also contribute to thyroid deficiencies.

Thyroid hormones are released from the gland and travel through the bloodstream to your body’s cells. These hormones directly affect how most of your organs function. So if your thyroid isn’t operating properly, you can have problems in many other parts of your body.
